Why is it the minute you have a child the first thing people ask is "how are they sleeping?". Well mam, my child is 45 seconds old and has no idea what anything is, never mind sleep, but come back to me in a few months I would think to myself. When having Amelia, one of things I knew I would obsess over (besides her bows) would be sleeping. I wanted to be a mother that could say "slept through the night by 12 weeks" and that we did. There are so many different things that play into this and by no means am I a sleep consultant or a doctor but there were a few things that stuck out to us that helped get our Meelz to love sleep just as much as her mama.
For me, I remember her being six weeks old and only getting 3-4 hours sleep (usually considered normal) and I knew we needed something to help us get to the next step. I had seen the ads on Instagram from some mom blogs I followed and said, lets give the Ollie Swaddle a shot. It took about three days for it to come and then it happened. The minute I snuggled her into the swaddle she slept six hours straight and never anything less (besides the occasional teething, regression, sick nights). I still remember the first night I used the swaddle, my husband was at the fire station and I woke up after four hours confused why Amelia and I were still sleeping. Photo below of the first time we used it, I could NOT stop laughing at her all wrapped up in it.
The swaddle specializes in controlling their reflexes which I noticed would be the reason Amelia woke up, it also controlled her temperature during a very hot summer. This was also the only swaddle she could not get out of. We used this swaddle and her beloved dockatot for months and progressively we all got more and more sleep. Within four weeks, we were up to 10 hours of sleep a night and felt comfortable enough to move from the Halo Bassinet to the crib in her own room.
If anyone wants to try the Ollie Swaddle, here is a link for $5 OFF. I know this is more expensive than some of the other swaddles, but for us it was worth the price. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
With Love,
